GD in Thom Browned Fall 2012
In his recent album photo and a backstage photo, GD sported two looks that are straight off the Thom Browned Fall 2012 runway. They are as odd as could be; my first reaction was “It’s about goddamn time!” Thom Browne is an avant-garde designer and there are not a lot of those kind of designers for menswear; his runway shows are ridiculously crazy. In the past, GD, as well as other Big Bang members, wore Thom Browne pretty regularly. However, none of them, not even GD has yet to don an avant-garde piece from the runway…until now. This fall collection was full of surprises: the prints, the volume, and not to mention those make-up. So daring and quirky, I love everything. When I first saw the collection, I knew it was something that is just waiting for G Dragon to wear; it’s one of those collections that showed the designer’s commitment to his concept and vision. To me, Thom Browne is one of the best menswear designer in the industry right now. His creativity seems endless and he always take risks.
I love the oversize silhouette that is ubiquitous through out the collection. When I see GD in the oversize pink blazer, it kinda reminds me of The Hulk which is strange since he is so skinny. Overall, I love GD’s vision for this album: the photos look so editorial, the music is sick, and he is just a genius. In the album photo, the studs, the print of the outfit, and the little mid crop suggest a fusion of rock ‘n roll, femininity, and a touch of sweetness.
As a whole, I love his direction for this comeback: spunky, out there, high fashion, and totally GD! Cannot wait to see the whole album.
